EDIFICIO BEEHIVE EN OBRA

El edificio de oficinas Beehive, en Lince (Lima) ha sido diseñado junto con el jóven estudio de arquitectura UAStudio. Cuenta con un exoesqueleto en hormigón con geometría variable, y 15 plantas. Será terminado a fines de este año.

BEEHIVE BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Beehive office building, located in Lince (Lima) is designed in partnership with UAStudio. It has fifteen floors and has an exterior concrete structure with variable geometry. It will be delivered by the end of this year.

PREMIO HEXÁGONO DE ORO

El Lugar de la Memoria ha sido acreedor del Hexágono de Oro, máximo galardón de la arquitectura peruana, en la XVI Bienal de Arquitectura del Perú, que tuvo lugar en Huancayo, del 27 al 29 de noviembre.

The Place of Memory wins the highest peruvian architecture Price, the Golden Hexagon. The price was granted at the 16th Peruvian Architecture Biennale, which took place in November 27-29th in the city of Huancayo.

PROPUESTA PARA EL CENTRO DE RECEPCIÓN Y BOLETERÍA DE LAS RUINAS DE MACHU PICCHU

Con la construcción del nuevo aeropuerto de Cusco, se prevé un incremento de afluencia turística a las famosas ruinas de hasta diez mil visitantes al día. Para ello, se planea implementar un lugar de acogida y control de tiquetes al pie de la montaña de Machu Picchu. Nuestra propuesta considera inoportuno proponer una “edificación” tan cerca del magnífico Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad y en medio de las estribaciones de la foresta amazónica, de ecosistema tan rico y frágil. En consecuencia, hemos propuesto un recorrido vivencial que nos prepara para la visita de las ruinas, sin pretender emular ni competir con las construcciones prehispánicas. El recorrido y las instalaciones son construidas en seco sin dejar huella en el territorio, siendo reversibles y reciclables.

En este recorrido se aprecia el imponente paisaje y naturaleza de la región Yunga, se “descubren” restos de imponentes andenerías Inca sumergidas en la vegetación (tal como Hiram Bingham “descubriera” Machu Picchu poco más de cien años atrás) y permite a los visitantes entender el dominio vertical de las ecologías andinas por los Incas, y su capacidad de adaptación a tan escarpado paisaje, además de apreciar las investigaciones y acciones de conservación que se están llevando a cabo actualmente, mientras esperan el control de tiquetes y el abordaje de los buses que los llevarán a las ruinas.

PROPOSAL FOR THE WELCOME CENTRE AND TICKET CONTROL FOR MACHU PICCHU RUINS

The completion of the new Cusco international airport will bring more than ten thousand visitors daily, and a Welcome Centre is needed at the foothill of Machu Picchu mountain. Our proposal consider inappropriate to build in the middle of the Amazonian Mountain rain forest, so near to the ruins.

A wooden experiential walk allow visitors to see the extraordinary fauna and flora of the Yunga region and discover abandoned Inca terraces covered with vegetation, just as Hiram Bingham discovered Machu Picchu ruins a hundred years ago. The boardwalk has information about the extraordinary capability of the Incas to adapt to this territory, to build in such a steep land and the different techniques of building and (nowadays) preserving the world-heritage site, allowing visitors to have a broad vision of the site while waiting for ticket control and boarding the buses that bring them to the ruins.

CONCURSO EN MOQUEGUA, PERU

Se confirmó este mes el lanzamiento de nuestro proyecto para la nueva sede del Gobierno Regional de Moquegua. Nuestra propuesta fue ganadora de un concurso arquitectónico, dentro del marco de Obras por Impuestos. El proyecto propone, además del edificio administrativo, una gran plaza cívica, un atrio techado y un auditorio para 400 personas.

COMPETITION IN MOQUEGUA, PERU

The launch of our architectural project for the new Regional Government headquarters of Moquegua has been confirmed. Our scheme was the winner of an architectural competition held in september 2013. The proposal, in addition to the administration building, plans a large town square, a covered atrium, and a auditorium for 400 peoples

XXV CLEFA

Jean Pierre Crousse participó como invitado en la XXV Conferencia Latinoamericana de Escuelas y Facultades de Arquitectura (CLEFA). En ella se debatió el tema de la Arquitectura y el diseño en tiempos de crisis, intentando reflexionar sobre las estrategias para hacer arquitectura en Latinoamérica. Participaron también Solano Benítez y Javier Corvalán de Paraguay, junto con Martín Gualano de Uruguay, José María Sáez de Ecuador, Bonch Muñoz de México, Manuel Cucurel de Argentina y Carla Juaçaba de Brasil.

Jean Pierre Crousse was lecturer to the XXV Conference of the Latin American Schools of Architecture (CLEFA). The discussion tried to set new strategies for the development of the Latin American architecture, considering this time of crisis. Participants included Solano Benítez and Javier Corvalán from Paraguay, Martín Gualano from Uruguay, José María Sáez from Ecuador, Bonch Muñoz from México, Manuel Cucurel from Argentina and Carla Juaçaba from Brazil.

APERTURA DEL AUDITORIO Y ESPACIOS PÚBLICOS DEL LUM

El Lugar de la Memoria abrió sus puertas al público con el festival iLUMina, del 5 al 7 de junio. El miércoles 4 se inauguró el teatro-auditorio con un concierto de música peruana y la presencia de autoridades civiles y gubernamentales.

OPENING OF THE AUDITORIUM AND PUBLIC SPACES OF THE LUM

The Place of Memory (LUM) was opened to the public with the festival iLUMina, from June 5 to 7. The theater and auditorium was opened on wednesday 4 with a concert of traditional peruvian music and the presence of civil and government authorities.

MCHAP AWARDS

El Illinois Institute of Technology en Chicago ha lanzado el Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize que premia las más distinguidas obras de arquitectura en América. En la primera edición de este premio, entraron en competencia obras realizadas entre el 2000 y el 2014. La selección estuvo a cargo de un jurado compuesto por Wiel Arets y Kenneth Frampton, entre otros. La Casa Equis fue nominada para el Emerging Architecture Award y el Lugar de la Memoria fue nominada por el jurado para el Premio de las Américas.

En Latinoamérica, compartimos con los latinoamericanos Marcelo y Martín Gualano, Pezo Von Ellrichshausen, HLPS, Carlos Meza y Plan B el tener más de una obra nominada para este prestigioso premio.

MCHAP AWARDS

The Illinois Institute of Technology at Chicago has launched the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, to recognize the most distinguished architectural works built on the North and South American continents. In the first edition of the biennial prize, the nominated projects were chosen form works built between 2000 y el 2014. An international jury, formed by Wiel Arets and Kenneth Frampton, among others, made the selection. The Equis house has been nominated for the Emerging Architecture Award and the Place for Memory was nominated by the jury for the Americas Prize.

Ubicada en las laderas del valle del río Lurín, este mes se acabó el casco. Construida en concreto y cemento rojo, la casa toma forma e instala su relación con el paisaje costeño. El fin de obra está previsto para agosto 2014.

Located in front of an olive tree park in San Isidro (Lima), received this month its facade in wooden louvers. The completion is due on July 2014.

BIENAL DE BUENOS AIRES

Barclay & Crousse es el primer estudio de arquitectura en ganar dos premios en la Bienal Internacional de Arquitectura de Buenos Aires, llevada a cabo entre el 24 y 28 de setiembre.

Los Premios Bienal de Arquitectura de la Bienal BA13 fueron deliberados por los arquitectos Rinio Bruttomesso, Manuel Cuadra, Mario Corea, Handel Guayasamin, Carlos Pita, Roberto Converti, Carlos Dibar, Enrique Cordeyro, Carlos Sallaberry y el Dr. Matías Glusberg, quienes compusieron el jurado internacional. El Premio Bienal de Arquitectura Latinoamericana fue para el estudio Barclay & Crousse.

Aprovechando el evento, el Comité Internacional de Críticos de Arquitectura -CICA- entregó sus tradicionales Premios CICA en Buenos Aires. El jurado, integrado por los arquitectos Trevor Boddy, Manuel Cuadra y Kieran Long, otorgó El Premio CICA a la Arquitectura Latinoamericana al Lugar de la Memoria.

BUENOS AIRES BIENNALE

Barclay & Crousse is the first firm to win two different prizes at the Buenos Aires International Biennale, held on September 24th – 28th.

An international jury, composed by Rinio Bruttomesso, Manuel Cuadra, Mario Corea, Handel Guayasamin, Carlos Pita, Roberto Converti, Carlos Dibar, Enrique Cordeyro, Carlos Sallaberry and Matías Glusberg gave the Biennale Architectural prizes. The Biennale Prize for Latin American Architecture was granted to Barclay & Crousse.

Also, the International Committee of Architectural Critics –CICA- gave their traditional CICA Prizes in Buenos Aires, using the opportunity of the Biennale. The jury, composed by Trevor Boddy, Manuel Cuadra and Kieran Long, recognized the Place of Memory with the CICA Prize for Latin American Architecture.
