LEARNING LANDSCAPES AT THE PUCP
The book about Edificio E, Piura University will be presented at the PUCP, where Sandra and Jean Pierre are associate professors. The Edificio E recently won the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) and the Peruvian National Award Hexágono de Oro. It is currently exhibited at the 16th Venice Biennale. Reynaldo Ledgard, Dean of the Architecture Faculty at PUCP will present the book, while Sandra Barclay will explain the participation at the Venice Biennale and Jean Pierre Crousse will explain the building and its architecture.

MAPP CONFERENCE
The master program in architecture and design processes, directed by Jean Pierre Crousse, organizes a conference with the participation of the master students, to show the research accomplished in the first two years. El aulario de la Universidad de Piura ganó el Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, el reconocimiento más importante de la arquitectura en el continente americano. La ceremonia de premiación, ocurrida el 10 de Octubre en Chicago, estuvo precedida de una presentación de los seis proyectos finalistas por sus autores y los clientes, y por un panel de discusión con los miembros del jurado. EDIFICIO E WINNER OF THE MCHAP 2018
The University of Piura’s educational facility won the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, the most important architectural recognition in the Americas. The ceremony took place at the Chicago IIT on October 10. The prize was announced by the jury after a presentation of the six finalists projects by their architects and clients, and a round table discussion with the jury. The previous winners were Álvaro Siza, Herzog&DeMeuron and SANAA. More info here

MUSEO PARACAS GANA EL PREMIO LCD 2018
El Leading Culture Destinations premió al Museo Julio C Tello de Paracas como el mejor nuevo destino cultural del año. El jurado estuvo compuesto por un grupo de 10 artistas, coleccionistas de arte, curadores, diseñadores, historiadores y arquitectos. PARACAS MUSEUM WINS THE LDC AWARDS 2018
The London-based Leading Culture Destinations awarded the Paracas Museum as the best new cultural destination of the year. The jury was composed by 10 artists, collectors, curators, designers, historians and architects. The prize was announced in London on September 28. More info in english here

Sandra Barclay y Jean Pierre Crousse fueron invitados por CERSAIE para participar en el programa cultural Costruire, Abitare, Pensare, en el que participaron también Richard Rogers, Mario Botta, Camilo Rebelo y Carla Juaçaba. El arquitecto e historiador Fulvio Irace moderó el tema “Arquitectura de la Tolerancia”, en donde se expusieron el Lugar de la Memoria y un memorial en la isla de Lampedusa (Italia), por Vincenzo Latina. ARCHITECTURE OF TOLERANCE IN BOLOGNA
Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse participated at the CERSAIE cultural program “Costruire, Abitare, Pensare”, along with Richard Rogers, Mario Botta, Camilo Rebelo and Carla Juaçaba. The presentations were moderated by the architect and historian Fulvio Irace to discuss about the architecture of tolerance. HEXÁGONO DE ORO 2018 PARA EL EDIFICIO ACADÉMICO DE PIURA
El 8 de setiembre se clausuró la XVIII Bienal de Arquitectura del Perú con el anuncio del ganador del premio más importante de la arquitectura en el Perú, el Hexágono de Oro, que recayó en el edificio académico para la Universidad de Piura, en el campus de la ciudad de Piura. El proyecto para la sede del Gobierno Regional de Moquegua obtuvo el primer premio en la categoría edificio público - equipamiento. Se otorgó por la primera vez en la bienal peruana un premio a la trayectoria de un arquitecto peruano, que fue otorgado a Juvenal Baracco, nuestro maestro en la Universidad Ricardo Palma. PERUVIAN NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE PRIZE FOR THE ACADEMIC FACILITY IN PIURA
The winner of the most important pervivan prize in architecture was announced at the 18th Peruvian Biennale, granted to the academic facility of the University of Piura. The Moquegua Region headquarters won also the first prize in the category Public Building. For the first time in a Peruvian Biennale, an award for the carrier of an outstanding architect was given to our professor Juvenal Baracco. More info here

Los curadores, Xristina Argyros y Ryan Neiheiser, seleccionaron 56 escuelas de todo el mundo y de todos los tiempos que crean "espacios libres" en donde se dan las condiciones de un espacio común del aprendizaje fuera de las aulas. El aulario de la universidad de Piura fue seleccionado por los curadores y exhibido con una maqueta que muestra esos espacios. El día 26 de mayo se organizó un simposio con la presentación de algunos de los autores de las escuelas exhibidas allí. más información aquí
THE GREEK PAVILION INCLUDES THE PIURA UNIVERSITY LECTURE BUILDING IN THE EXHIBITION "THE SCHOOL OF ATHENS"
The curators Xristina Argyros y Ryan Neiheiser chose 56 schools all over the World and of all times, that create "free spaces" providing "open, informal and common space for learning", in the in-between spaces created by formal classrooms. The Lecture building at Universidad de Piura was chosen by the curators and exhibited in the form of a conceptual model showing those spaces. A symposium took place on May 26, where some of the chosen buildings' authors explained their projects. more info here

The book "Learning Landscapes", curated by Fabrizio Foti, has just been published in Italy. It shows the UDEP academic building and the installation at the 2018 Venice Biennale by Barclay & Crousse. It features essays by Enrique Ciriani and Juan Carlos Sancho. More info here
BARCLAY & CROUSSE EN LA 16 MOSTRA DI ARCHITETTURA DE LA BIENAL DE VENECIA
El aulario de la Universidad de Piura fue elegido por las curadoras Yvonne Farrell y Shelley McNamara junto con otros 70 proyectos para representar Freespace en la Muestra Central de la Bienal. La instalación se enfoca en mostrar la luz en el tiempo, dos elementos claves del "espacio libre": los encofrados de las celosías del edificio piurano filtran la luz veneciana que entra por una ventana de las Corderías, mientras que un video firmado por Cristóbal Palma muestra la luz piurana que recorre el aulario durante todo un día, el cual es proyectado directamente sobre el muro veneciano del Arsenal.
BARCLAY & CROUSSE AT THE 16th INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION IN THE VENICE BIENNALE
The Lecture Building for the Universidad de Piura was chosen by the curators Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara among 70 projects that represent Freespace at the Biennale. The installation focuses on showing the light in time as two of the key elements of Freespace: the formwork that was used for the louver panels in the Piura building filter the venetian light that gets through a window at the Corderie, while a video by Cristobal Palma shows the light of Piura crossing the Lecture building through a whole day. The video is projected directly on the Venetian walls.

El libro "Agujeros Negros Urbanos", editado por el Patronato Cultural del Perú en colaboración con el Harvard Graduate School of Design, fue presentado por Jean Pierre Crousse durante la jornada Latinin' America organizada por el David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies y el Latin GSD. Participaron en la presentación del libro Rahul Mehrotra, experto en Conservación Crítica del GSD, Lorena Bello, experta en Conservación del MIT, Einat Rosenkrantz, co-docente del taller dirigido por Crousse en el 2015, y los ex-alumnos del taller Rubén Segovia y Thomas Nideroest. The book "urban Black Holes", edited by the Patronato Cultural del Perú with the Harvard GSD, was presented by Jean Pierre Crousse at the event Latinin' America, organized by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and the Latin GSD. The presentation counted with the participation of Rahul Mehrotra, expert in critical conservation at the GSD, Lorena Bello, expert in conservation at the MIT, Einat Rosenkrantz, co-teacher of the option studio leaded by Crousse in 2015, and the former students of the studio Rubén Segovia and Thomas Nideroest. "Del Plano al Mapa" fue el título de la presentación que hicieron Sandra y Jean Pierre, cerrando la segunda jornada de la Bienal Internacional de Arquitectura de Buenos Aires - XVI BA17. Fueron invitados para ilustrar su obra, con motivo de ser los ganadores del Premio Oscar Niemeyer 2016. Crousse participó también en la 13a Bienal de Bolivia, junto con otros destacados arquitectos latinoamericanos.
BARCLAY & CROUSSE IN BUENOS AIRES AND BOLIVIA BIENNALES.
"From Plans to Maps" was the title of Sandra and Jean Pierre's presentation, closing the second day of the Buenos Aires International Architecture Biennale - XVI BA17. They were invited to show their work as winners of the 2016 Oscar Niemeyer Prize. Crousse also participated at the 13th Bolivian Biennale, among other important Latin-American practices.

The exhibition that represented Peru in the 2016 Venice Biennale, Reporting From The Front, was opened in the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, in Lima. The exhibition is one of the events organized by the Patronato Cultural del Perú, under the name MULTIDISCIPLINAR, cultural meetings 2017. more info here.
PRESENTACIÓN DEL LIBRO "AGUJEROS NEGROS URBANOS"
El 29 de septiembre, como parte de los eventos de MULTIDISCIPLINAR, se presentó el libro "Agujeros Negros Urbanos", dirigido por Jean Pierre Crousse y editado por el Patronato Cultural del Perú, que ilustra las conclusiones del taller de diseño urbano de la Escuela de Graduados de Diseño de la Universidad de Harvard, liderado por Jean Pierre Crousse en el 2015. El estudio propone imaginar las oportunidades que brindan los sitios arqueológicos que se encuentran dentro del tejido urbano de Lima en la solución del déficit de espacios públicos que aqueja la capital del Perú.
PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK "URBAN BLACK HOLES"
As part of the MULTIDISCIPLINAR events, the presentation of Urban Black Holes was presented on september 29, edited by Jean Pierre Crousse and published by Patronato Cultural del Perú. The book presents the conclusions of the studio leaded by Jean Pierre Crousse at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, in 2015. The subject of the studio aimed to imagine the archaeological sites within Lima's urban grid as new opportunities for public space.
